“Are we nothing more than this – a list of pinnacles achieved?
This time I’ve found a better way”
‘Breathe Again’ from KILL YOUR OWN

Winners of Kerrang!’s Best New Band in 2000. 200,000 albums sold. Six Top 40 singles. Winners of Kerrang!’s Best Album award in 2001. Winners of Kerrang!’s Readers Poll Best Unsigned Band in 2004. You’d forgive Hundred Reasons for wondering “What next?”

Their answer – make the best album of their career so far.

In the fifteen months between leaving their first label and signing with V2, Hundred Reasons continued doing what they’ve done best since day one – being a genuine, hardworking rock band playing live. A main stage appearance at Reading and Leeds Festivals 2004 was followed by shows with New Found Glory and a sold out headline tour in November 2004. They played shows throughout the first half of 2005 in typically self-sufficient style.

Never ones to rest on their laurels they explored other musical projects, Colin with The Lucky Nine and This Is Menace and Larry producing for the likes of Million Dead, Capdown, My Awesome Compilation and Save Ourselves.

Supported by the team they’d worked with from the very beginning, they also wrote new Hundred Reasons songs, with no pressure, no time limits and no external expectations. They wrote songs they liked, and Larry recorded them.

The recordings made their way into the hands of the managing director at V2 – a label riding high with Bloc Party, Elbow, The Rakes, Stereophonics and Paul Weller – who promptly snapped them up.

The band then entered Kore Studios in London as soon as they’d they finished writing, with Larry taking the production helm and longtime associate Dave Sardy (renowned producer of Oasis, Rolling Stones and previous Hundred Reasons albums) handling mixing duties on three of the eleven tracks.

They set about creating a record that is at times loud, aggressive and antagonistic (‘Live Fast, Die Ugly’ and the title track and first single ‘Kill Your Own’) whilst at others gentle, positive and most of all, uplifting (‘The Chance’ and ‘Breathe Again’). The new songs are the most honest, multi-layered and quite possibly the best material the band have produced to date, but most of all, the record is an accurate reflection of Hundred Reasons in 2006 – accomplished, confident and hungry.

The first fruit from the album was ‘Feed The Fire’, a limited edition release (the third instalment in the band’s Singles Club series) initially given out to fans on their sold out December Barfly tour and then made available as a free download through the band’s website. This will be followed by the first official single, the album title track ‘Kill Your Own’ on 6th March on V2, with the album following on 20th March.
